This policy explains how iFixMate uses the personal information you give us when you use this website, contact us or ask us to repair a device. We are committed to handling your information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
iFixMate is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in this policy using the details below.
- Business: iFixMate
- Address: Walkergate, Newcastle upon Tyne
- Email: info@ifixmate.uk
- Phone: 0191 323 5255
Information we collect
- Enquiries: your name, email address, phone number, device model and the details of the fault when you use our contact form, email us, call us or message us on WhatsApp.
- Selling or buying a phone: the phone details, condition, photos, your name and phone number you enter on our Sell Your Phone or Refurbished Phones pages. These are sent to us through WhatsApp in the same way as repair requests.
- Repair requests: the device details, fault description, your name and phone number you enter on our Request a Repair page, and any photos of your device you choose to add. The request is sent to us through WhatsApp. Photos are stored on our web hosting with a private, hard-to-guess link that is included in the message.
- Repairs: your contact details, the device make, model, serial number or IMEI, the fault, the work carried out, the parts used, the price paid and any warranty details.
- Website data: our hosting provider records standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the website secure and working.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, passwords, passcodes or payment card details in an enquiry. If a repair needs device access, we will discuss it with you directly.
How we use your information and our lawful basis
- To answer your enquiry and give you a quote: because you have asked us to take steps before entering into a contract, and in our legitimate interest in responding to customers.
- To carry out and support your repair, including warranty claims: to perform our contract with you.
- To keep business and accounting records: to comply with our legal obligations, including tax law.
- To keep our website and services secure and prevent fraud or the repair of stolen devices: in our legitimate interests.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have separately agreed to receive it.
Data on your device
We only access the contents of your device as far as needed to diagnose the fault and test the repair. We do not copy, keep or share your photos, messages or other personal content. Please back up your device before any repair.
